Lifelong resident of Lowell, Army Veteran; 91
LOWELL -- Mr. Gerard Ernest Weed, age 91, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died on Friday, September 13th, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born in Lowell, on November 1st, 1921, son of the late Joseph A. and Albina M. (Letendre) Weed.
He served five years in the U.S. Army during World War II, as a Corporal. He was stationed in Germany, and served in the Battery
B-211 FA Battalion Artillery.
He retired in 1986 from Carol Shoe in Lowell. He later worked at Alexander's Market, and the Lowell Lodge of Elks where he was also a member for 40 years. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post #662 in Lowell, and the American Legion Post #247 in Tyngsboro.
Gerry was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his three sons, Russell Weed and Brian Weed, both of Dracut, and Ronald Weed of Lowell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ronald Roy of Lowell, Joyce & William Caldwell, Sr., of Dracut, and Donna and James Dean of NH; three sisters, Doris McKenzie and Mary Jacobs, both of Lowell, and Cecile Weed of Dracut; six grandchildren, Ronald Weed-Roy and his wife, Carrie Roy, Crystal and her husband, Libanio Meneses, Jennifer and her husband, Joe Raboin, Joshua Guimond, and William Caldwell, Jr., and Nicholas Caldwell; four great-grandchildren; and one on the way; also many nieces & nephews.
He was also the great-grandfather of the late Joseph Raboin, Jr.; and brother of the late Arthur, Leo and Eugene Weed.
WEED -- Gerard Ernest, age 91, of Lowell. Relatives & Friends will be received at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, MA on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M.
