Glenna Zwicker
former greeter at Tewksbury's Wal-Mart; 85

TEWKSBURY -- Glenna (Flater) Zwicker, age 85, well known for her cheerful disposition and festive costumes while working as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Tewksbury, died unexpectedly Friday evening, April 27, at her Tewksbury home.

She was born in Reading, MA on March 16, 1927, a daughter of the late Harold and Bertha (Quigley) Flater, and was raised in Reading. She lived most of her adult life in Medford, before moving to Tewksbury in 1991.

She worked at MA/COM in Burlington and Lowell as a manufacturing supervisor. Upon retirement, she worked as a waitress at Stelio's Restaurant in Wilmington, where she developed numerous friendships and loyal customers. She later became a greeter at Tewksbury's Wal-Mart store, where she brightened the mood of anyone who passed by her upon entering the store. She was locally famous for her Halloween costumes she made and wore during the October Halloween season, but used any holiday as an excuse to invent a new "look" for her job.

She started the journey up the "stairway to heaven" on April 27, to be with her late husband Vernon. There they will go to their resting place together to be wrapped safely and tenderly in the arms of the Lord.

She was a "Mom and best friend." She was a "Nana" who loved her granddaughter with all her heart. She was a great mother-in-law to Paul. From her family; "We miss her already. She was taken from us much too soon. Our hearts will ache forever, as we are all wanting to hold her hand and hug her again."
She loved life, people, her job as a "greeter," wearing flowers in her hair, big earrings, lots of jewelry, giving and receiving hugs and wearing a smile that went from one side of her face to the other. Her hobby was making doll clothes to make children smile.

Also from her family; "Rest in Peace with Dad, "MA." We will see you in our dreams and feel you in our hearts forever."
She is survived by three children, Heidi Ricci and her husband Paul of Tewksbury, with whom she resided, Vernon K. Zwicker III of Wakefield, and Robert B. Zwicker of Normandy, TN; her beloved granddaughter, Melissa Garrett; her twin sister, Genevieve Micali of Newington, CT; sisters, Beverly Reed of Freedom, NH, Harriette Webster of VT, Eloise Himes of Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also sister of the late Gudrum "Goodie" Johnston.
