Loving mother and grandmother; 97

AYER -- Helen Dora (Moore) Persuitte, 97, formerly of East Main Street, died Wednesday morning, January 9, 2013, at Courville of Nashua, Nashua, NH.

Her husband of 63 years, George Patrick Persuitte, died in 2002.

Helen was born in Rutland, Vermont, June 15, 1915, a daughter of Harry Moore and Lora (Spear) Moore Preston and had resided in Ayer for over 70 years.

She had lived in Vermont and attended Rutland High School before moving to Boston where she met and married her husband.

Helen worked at the Fort Devens Cutler Community Hospital retiring in 1981 after 30 years of dedicated service. Helen was known as "that sweet lady with the beautiful and shy smileloved for her unselfishness, and remembered in the hearts of all who have known her".

Post retirement, Helen took on a new challenge to research and document the family genealogy and later enjoyed being "kept young" actively participating in her great-granddaughter's childhood. Helen had many amazing talents which she pursued her entire life including rug hooking, painting, braided rugs, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her children, David Persuitte of Washington, DC, and Patricia Lewis of Nashua, NH; by her four grandchildren, Michael P. McCarten, Karen (McCarten) Agule and her husband Douglas, Edward F. McCarten, and Mark Persuitte. Helen also had one great-granddaughter, Katherine M. Agule.

She was the sister of the late Donald "Bud" Moore, Norman Moore, Laura Racicot, and Shirley Dole.

PERSUITTE -- Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, (Route 2A), Ayer. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information. Calling hours will be Saturday at 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ayer.
