Beloved mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother

LOWELL -- Helen Frances (Martin) Hanlon, 85, a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, died peacefully Friday morning, November 30th, 2012, at the Inn at Robbins Brook in Acton, Massachusetts with her loving family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Hanlon who died December 13, 2004.

Born in North Billerica, Massachusetts, November 26, 1927, the daughter of the late David Cyril and the late Catherine Elizabeth (White) Martin she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Before retiring, Helen was employed as a Teacher's Aide at the Lincoln School in Lowell. Previously, she was a secretary with the FBI in the Boston office.

A communicant of St. Margaret Church in Lowell she also was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality.

Among her many interests, Helen loved knitting and quilting Irish knit Afghans and blankets for her family and friends. She also enjoyed rug braiding, a more rigorous endeavor but equally rewarding.

Helen's true joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great grandson.

Until recently, she was also an active member of the Lowell Senior Citizens.

Helen is survived by three daughters, Jane Ahearn of Chelmsford, MA, Susan Bujnowski and her husband, John of Lowell, MA, and Martha Gonsalves of Woburn, MA; a son, Joseph D. Hanlon and his wife, Linda of Greenville, VA; six grandchildren, Sarah Ahearn, Katie Bujnowski, Tessa Gonsalves, Jenna Gonsalves, Steven Bujnowski, and Ryan Ahearn; a great-grandson, Cole Joseph Medeiros; a sister, Mary Alice McKone of Dover, DE; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also sister of the late David Martin and the late Frank Martin.

HANLON -- In Acton, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Inn at Robbins Brook, Helen Frances (Martin) Hanlon, 85, of Lowell, wife of the late Joseph F. Hanlon. Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 2 to 6 P.M. on Sunday. Her Funeral will take place from the Funeral Home Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock followed by her Funeral Mass at ST. MARGARET CHURCH at 9:30 o'clock. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury. Those wishing may make contributions in her memory to Life Choice Hospice, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 300, Waltham, MA 02451.
