SANTA BARBARA, CA -- Irene Look Marquis, passed on Sunday, August 12, 2012, a week after a major stroke. She was born in Dracut, Massachusetts on April 17, 1923 to Rose Alba (Robitaille) and Nazaire Tetreault.
She is predeceased by her first husband of 46 years, William Thomas Look, and her second husband of eight years, Manning E. Marquis. She was the last to pass of the seven children in her family.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Linda Look of Santa Barbara CA; her son, William Look, Jr. of Tyngsboro, MA; and her grandsons William and Joseph Wolfslau who currently reside in New York.
Irene grew up in Lowell, MA where she met her first husband, Bill at the Lowell Shoe where they both worked. After a short engagement, they married a week after Irene turned 18 and were together untill Bill's passing 46 years later. Irene was a homemaker for many years while raising her two children. She later returned to the Lowell Shoe where she worked until her retirement.
In 1984 Irene and Bill retired and moved to Santa Barbara to enjoy the moderate climate. Irene enjoyed sewing, travelling, spending time with her grandsons and dancing. While dancing at the Goleta Senior Center, she met Manning Marquis who she wed shortly after her 80th birthday. They were able to spend several active years together until health issues curbed their independence. Their last two years together were spent as residents at Vista Del Monte.
