TEWKSBURY -- Joanne G. (Carota) Morneweck, age 71, a resident of Tewksbury for 49 years, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at the Lowell General Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of Lee E. Morneweck, with whom she celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on July 2, 2012.
Born in Boston of October 6, 1941, she was the daughter of Helen (Siekman) Carota, who survives her, of Andover and the late Louis Carota.
Joanne was raised in Lexington, attended Lexington schools and graduated from Lexington High School in 1959.
Following their marriage, Joanne and her husband Lee, resided in Woburn until moving to Tewksbury in 1964.
Joanne dedicated her life to providing a loving and caring home for her husband and family.
She enjoyed numerous activities including flower gardening, snowmobiling, camping, crochet, knitting, watching and feeding the birds from the window of her home.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by three children, Lynne L. Nutton and her husband Michael of Methuen, Chris P. Morneweck and his wife Catherine of Middleton, and Richard A. Morneweck and his wife Lorena of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Sheena and Michael J. Nutton, Jr., Stephen Kennedy, Lauren, Emma, Kaitlyn, and Christien Morneweck; one great-granddaughter, Sophie Kennedy; four siblings, Lois A. Maxner and her husband Stephen of Milford, NH, Paul L. Carota and his wife Marylou of Lowell, Janet M. Bedard and her husband Jack of Methuen, Helen F. DeCelle and her husband Edward of Tewksbury. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Joanne was the sister of the late Lorraine H. Bowen.
MORNEWECK -- Joanne G. (Carota). Calling hours will be Sunday, Feb. 3, from 2-6 p.m. in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 4, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
