Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother

TYNGSBORO, MA -- John G. Forti, 75, died peacefully at his home, Friday, November 23rd, with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Dianne (Barra) Forti.

John was born in Malden, MA on April 22, 1937, son of the late Ethel (Bigney) and Santo Forti. He was educated in Malden, a graduate of Malden High School. He went on to receive his Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Tufts, Masters from Northeastern and his MBA from Babson College.

John labored tirelessly as an engineer for many years, the bulk of them spent in faithful service to the Veterans Administration, where he retired as the Assistant Director of the VA Hospital in Manchester, NH, and thereafter pursued varied academic and employment opportunities in his retirement.

John was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed military history. He was especially proud of the military service of his children. He was an enthusiastic collector and enjoyed coin, train, and stamp collecting. In retirement, he discovered his love of genealogy and pursued the history of his family across many states and countries.

John is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Dianne and his six children: John Forti Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Enterprise, AL, Jill Glover and her husband, Rob of Whitman, MA, Lynn Forti of East Falmouth, MA, Dorice Hileman and her husband, Chris of Herndon, VA, Dana Riveire and her husband, George of Newport, RI and Cara Forti of Tyngsboro, MA.

He is also survived by his three sisters, Martha Drinkwater and her husband, Ralph, and Nancy and Doris Forti, all of Malden; his nine grandchildren, Matt, Nick and Margot Forti, Lily and Shane Glover, Ethan Rosa, Aidan and Zachary Hileman and Amelia Riveire; as well as many other loved ones, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was predeceased by his sister, Ann Gignac and her husband, Jerry Gignac.

FORTI -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28th at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. His funeral will take place from the funeral home at 9 a.m. with his funeral Mass to take place at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Tyngsboro. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. In lieu of flowers, sponsorships are requested for John's daughter Cara, who will be running in the race for stroke research or donations may be made in his memory to his favorite charity, Toys for Tots, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
