Formerly of Lowell, MA, Navy Veteran

JIM THORPE, PA -- Joseph G. Curtis, of Jim Thorpe, PA, formerly of Lowell, MA, died on April 15, 2014.

The son of the late John G. and Mary (Mizak) Curtis, he was born in East Mauch Chunk, PA, and was a graduate of the former East Mauch Chunk High School. He attended Penn State University Campus in Hazleton and received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.

He was a proud Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Dolan-Jones-Martino American Legion Post 304.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a member and past president of the church FYI organization. He was employed by Raytheon Co. in Lexington, MA as a Sr. Systems Analyst and retired in 1992.

He was an avid golfer and recorded two holes-in-one.

He is survived by his children, Joseph of Monroe, CT, Mary Ann O'Brien and her husband, James, of Lowell, MA, William and his wife, Theresa, of Swampscott, MA, John of Lowell, MA, Patrick of Salem, NH, and Ellen Barrasso and her husband, William, of Melrose, MA. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, his loving nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

He was pre-deceased by an infant daughter, Catherine, two brothers, John and George, and a sister, Helen Kutta.

CURTIS -- Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wed., April 23rd at Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe followed by 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 526 N. St., Jim Thorpe. Memorial visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tues. and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wed. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery, Jim Thorpe with Military Honors.
