CHELMSFORD -- Lidia Georgina (Osorio) Berard, 76, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died peacefully surrounded by family at her home on Monday, July 22, 2013. She was the wife of the late Richard G. Berard, who died in 2004.
She was born in Mexico City, Mexico on August 3, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Simon Osorio and Guadalupe Montes. She was raised and educated in Mexico City, and following her immigration to the United States, continued her studies and earned a bachelor's degree from Rivier College. Prior to her retirement, Georgina was employed for many years as a medical technologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Georgina was a parishioner of St. Mary Parish in Chelmsford, a member of the Chelmsford Garden Club and the Red Hat Society of Chelmsford. She was a very giving and compassionate person and had volunteered her time at the Greater Lowell VNA as a translator, giving comfort to the infirmed. She also volunteered at Nashoba Valley Technical High School and was a docent for the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Georgina was a very accomplished knitter who also enjoyed gardening, travel and nature. Summers were spent enjoying family and friends in Ogunquit, ME.
Georgina is survived by her four children: Marcella Blake of Merrimac, Michele Patriquin and her husband Ralph of Chelmsford, John Berard of Minneapolis MN, and Nicole Berard and her wife Joyce Miller of Lancaster; four treasured grandchildren: Gabrielle and Sophie Blake of Merrimac, Samuel and Isabelle Patriquin of Chelmsford; extended family and beloved friends.
BERARD -- Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 8 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 o'clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
