Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother

LOWELL -- Luciano Almeida, 57, a resident of the Back Central neighborhood of Lowell, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus.

He was the beloved husband of Cidalia M. (Freitas) Almeida, to whom he was married for 28 years.

He was born in Terciera, Azores on June 13, 1955, and was a son of the late Norberto and Maria (Luis) Almeida. He received his education in Portugal.

Prior to his illness, he was employed by Bradford Industries in Lowell, and prior to that by Interstate Container in Lowell. Earlier in his career, he was employed by NECCO.

Luciano was a member of the Portuguese American Center and a member of the Portuguese American Civic League Band.

He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Lowell.

In his free time, Luciano enjoyed singing, writing music, and playing the accordion, although most of his time was spent with his loving grandson, Kam'ron.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Allison Almeida of Lowell, Steven Almeida of Woburn, and Janice Almeida of Taunton; his grandson, Kam'ron Luciano Men of Lowell; five sisters, Maria Margarida Sousa of the Azores, Filomena Alves of Hudson, MA, Lucilia Lima of the Azores, Elisabete Barroso of Lowell, and Vivalda Morales of Lowell; two brothers, Jose Gabriel Almeida of Lowell, and Joao Almeida of the Azores; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the father of the late Jeffrey Almeida and the brother of the late Eduardo Almeida.

ALMEIDA -- Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Tuesday from 4 until 8 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 o'clock at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central St., Lowell. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. Funeral Director, Paul A.
