Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother
BILLERICA -- Mary (Kerr) Mercuri, age 79, beloved wife of Rudolph "Rudy" Mercuri died Sunday at the D'Youville Center for Advanced Therapy in Lowell surrounded by her loving family after a Long Illness.
She was born in Boston Mass, May 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn (Mahoney) Kerr and was raised in Somerville and lived in Everett before moving to Billerica over 50 years ago. Gerry worked for the telephone company in her early twenty's, before she became a housewife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining, gardening, dancing, music, and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Gerry had many dear friends throughout her lifetime, including her longest and best friend Mrs. Kathryn "Kay" Langlois for over 65 years. She loved to vacation in New Hampshire "Birch Lane", and also York Beach and Ogunquit, Maine. She absolutely loved the ocean. Gerry was a wonderful person with a "Big Heart" and even "Bigger Soul."
Besides her husband she is survived by one son; Gerald T. "Jerry" O'Brien and his fiancée Jeannie Collins of Tewksbury; her daughters, Charlene O'Brien of Billerica, Michelle Mercuri and Lucille Beland both of Methuen and Joanna Matterazzo of Pelham, NH; one brother, Charles Kerr of Fl; her cherished grandchildren, Tiffany and Geoffrey O'Brien, Misty and Billy Anaya, Julianna and Corey Perez, and Emily Rose Beland; and her great-grandson Xavior Ashmore, and several nieces, nephews, brothers and sister-in-law.
She was also the sister of the late Walter Kerr.
Mrs. Mercuri's family would like to thank the Staff of the D'Youville Center for Advanced Therapy for all of their kindness, love and support. They were truly "Angels" to our family and took great care of our mother!
