Lifelong resident of Lowell; 78

LOWELL -- Maurice J. Raymond, age 78, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital.

He was born in Lowell, MA, on November 29, 1934, a son of the late Andrew W. and Anna M. (Ayotte) Raymond. He attended Lowell schools, and was a graduate of St. Joseph Elementary School, St. Joseph High School, and went on to receive his Degree in Accounting from Merrimack College.

Prior to his retirement, Maurice had been employed by the United States Government for over 38 years.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he had been a Translater and he was also the recipient of Good Conduct Medal.

Maurice was a former member of the Applachian Mountain Club, a former member of the Mineral Society, and a former member of the New England Gem Society. He enjoyed Map-Compass Orienteering, Mineral Mining, and Panning for Gold, and he appreciated Classical Music,

He was also a member of the Club Lafayette and CCA Club, both of Lowell.

Maurice is survived by his longtime companion, Jean Perreault of Stoneham, MA; his five sisters, Georgette Hayes of Dracut, Vivianne Pageau of Andover, MA, Lorraine Dean of Newington, CT, Lina R. Fox and her husband, Richard of Nashua, NH, and Rita Pavo and her husband, Joseph of Hannibal, NY. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Jeannette Barcus.

RAYMOND -- Family and friends may call on Saturday morning, Nov. 9, 2013 from 9 to 10:30 A.M. at the ARCHAMBAULT FUNERAL HOME, 309 Pawtucket St., Lowell. Maurice's Prayer Service will follow visitation at 10:30 A.M. in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow with Military Honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maurice may be made to the . Funeral Director, Victor J. Archambault Jr. (978-459-9315).
