Melanie D. Smith Loving mother, daughter, and sister
BOSTON -- Melanie D. Smith, age 40, a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Melanie was born in Melrose on May 1, 1972, the daughter of the late Marlan D. Smith and Judith A. (Broadbent) Smith of Lowell, who survives her. She attended Lowell High School.
Prior to her illness, she had been employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Andover as a Contact Rep.
Melanie was an avid bingo player. She also enjoyed traveling and was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots. She had also been a softball coach, coaching her daughter.
In addition to her mother, her survivors include one daughter, Alexandria A. Smith of Lowell; Alexandria's father, Thomas P. Lefebvre of Tewksbury; two sisters, Melissa D. Bailey and her husband, Brian, of Nashua, NH and Laurie B. Miller and her husband, Jason, of Lowell; one brother, Michael S. Smith, of Lowell; nieces Ariel Smith, Michaela Smith, and Elizabeth Miller; nephews Joshua Bailey, her godson Caleb Bailey, and Nathan Bailey; one great-niece, Riley Jones; and also dear friends Fran Nawossa of Tewksbury, and Gail Kelly of Everett.
SMITH -- Melanie D. Smith, age 40, a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2012. At her request, visiting hours have been omitted. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend her Memorial Mass to be celebrated on Friday morning, September 28, 2012, at 11 o'clock at the Immaculate Conception Church (lower church), E. Merrimack Street, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Melanie may be made to the MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130 or to the
