CHELMSFORD -- Michael T. Pappas, 85, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died Friday, October 5th, 2012, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Frances P. (Chafe) Pappas, to whom he was married for 18 years.
He was born in Americus, GA on April 26, 1927, and was the son of the late Ephemean and Evagelica (Pitiriga) Pappas. He was raised and educated in Greece and was wounded while fighting with the Greek resistance against the German occupation of Greece.
Michael then immigrated back to America and graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Michael began his 37 year career with Genuine Parts Company in Atlanta, GA, before retiring from their Wilmington, MA plant.
He was a lifelong athlete and enjoyed playing tennis, soccer, basketball, and golf, and was an avid motorcyclist.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by two sons, Michael T. Pappas, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Townsend and Marcus Pappas of Mary Esther, FL; his daughter, Marina Clark of Bradford, MA; a sister, Mary Repousis and her husband, John of Trikala, Greece; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many friends.
PAPPAS -- Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 until 6 PM at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Interment will be private.
