Norman G. Sweeney
Formerly of Lowell, Air Force Vet; 62

CONCORD -- Mr. Norman Gerard Sweeney, age 62, of Concord, formerly a longtime Lowell resident, died on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Marlborough Hospital, following complications from a motorcycle accident.

For 40 years, he was the beloved husband of Ethel M. (Motard) Sweeney.

He was born in Lowell, on Sept. 19, 1951, son of the late Armand & Jaqueline (Hall) Sweeney. Following his education in the Lowell School System, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was employed as a welding inspector for Briggs Engineering for many years. Previously, he was a Union Ironworker for Boston Union Local #7 for many years.

Norman was a member of the American Legion Post #247, Tyngsboro, the Elks Club, the CCA Club, and a lifetime member of the Pawtucketville Social Club. He enjoyed Fishing and Billiards, was an avid Boston sports fan and Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast. He also loved to play guitar and was a member of the Rhythm Rockers Band.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Shirley of Pepperell, Colleen Shirley of Lowell, and Carrie & Jason Lamarche of Lowell; a sister, Carol Sweeney of Lowell; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Robert "Ben" Sweeney of AZ, Mr. & Mrs. Paul Sweeney of OH, Mr. & Mrs. David Sweeney of VT, and Arthur Sweeney of Salem, MA; six grandchildren, Candace, Daniel, Adreanna, Kayla, Jason Jr., and Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Marcus Jr., and Joseph; also 12

brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; also many nieces & nephews, and great nieces & nephews.

He was also brother of the late Donald Sweeney.

SWEENEY -- Norman, age 62, of Concord. Relatives & Friends will be received at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, MA on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM. A prayer service will take place in the funeral home at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
