LOWELL -- Patricia "Patti" L. Barnes, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died July 28, 2012, in Nashua, after a brief illness, her loving family by her side, aged 59 years.
She was the beloved companion of Brian P. Riordan for 35 years.
Born in Haverhill, September 26, 1952, a daughter of the late Herbert J. and Lillian M. (Irons) Barnes. She received her early education in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1970.
Ms. Barnes became associated with the Aetna Insurance Company in Tewksbury where she began her successful career in the insurance industry. For the past six years, she worked for MetLife as an insurance agent, a position she thoroughly enjoyed.
Patti was a devoted animal lover who could never resist taking in a stray. She especially enjoyed caring for her cats, Amber, Bob, Dakota and Nevada. She loved to read and listen to music. Most of all, Patti loved to travel with her best friend, Brian, where together they shared many great adventures, especially on their trips to Las Vegas and the California coast.
Besides her loving companion, Brian, she is survived by a sister, Sheila Barnes-Kay and her husband, Dennis Kay of Wells, ME; a sister, Margaret Fairve of Fishkill, NY; a foster sister, Lillian McAlpine; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Blvd., the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. Patricia's funeral at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 AM. Interment in Edson Cemetery, Lowell. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
