Devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt

CHELMSFORD -- Patricia L. "Pat" (Doherty) Powers, a resident of Chelmsford, MA, since 1979, died peacefully and gracefully on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Pat was born in Boston, MA, and grew up in Dorchester. She was the daughter of John A. and Kathryn (Dempsey) Doherty.

She was the beloved wife of the late James R. Powers, who died in 1997, after almost 50 years of marriage.

Before she married Jim, she worked in Boston as a bookkeeper. During their marriage, they lived in Oregon, IL, Kettering, Ohio, Turnersville, NJ, and Taylor, MI; before settling in Chelmsford. Pat loved being back in New England, as she loved going to the beach with her family and friends.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gregory J. Powers of Chelmsford, and Daniel E. and Kathleen Powers of Lincoln Park, MI; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen A, and David Kelley of Hudson, NH; and Janice K. and Mark McGee of Dracut, MA; and seven grandchildren, Kristen (Kelley) Gleason and Jeff Kelley; Philip, Evan, and Breanna McGee; and Jenna and Alanna Powers. Her newest joy was great-grandson, Conor Gleason.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Sullivan, Kathryn (Kay) Corcoran, and Claire Maus, and three brothers, John (Jackie), Albert (Al), and Francis.

The Powers family would like to thank the staff of Community Family of Lowell for the care, compassion, and enjoyment that they gave to Pat.
