Peter J. Apostolas
Loving husband, father, grandfather;
U.S. Marine Veteran;
Retired Dracut Police Officer

Peter J. Apostolas, of Henderson, Nevada, formerly a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away February 9, 2013, his loving wife by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (Perry) Apostolas, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.

Born in Lowell, July 25, 1945, he was a son of the late James and Koula (Samaras) Apostolas. Peter received his early education in the Lowell school system, and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1963.

Mr. Apostolas proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Peter was a dedicated Dracut Police Officer, having served the community for over 25 years before retiring from public duty in 2000. During his career, he held positions with the SWAT team, as a Detective, and as a Court Prosecutor.

In 2000, Peter and Nancy relocated to Henderson where he had accepted the position of Security Manager with Mandalay Bay Resorts. Soon after, he was promoted to Manager of Corporate Security, a role he held until he retired in 2007.

Peter loved all sports, but his favorite team to follow was the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed listening to music and traveling. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by three children, Angela Maille and her husband, Rick of Dracut, James Apostolas of Manchester, NH, and Jolayne Perry and her fiancé, Brad Hall of Wakefield; six grandchildren, Amanda Flanders and her husband, Warren; Andrea, Alexandra, and Alicia Maille, and Ashley and Brooke Apostolas; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Flanders; a sister, Elizabeth Chachus of Lowell; a brother-in-law, David Perry and his wife, Linda; sisters-in-law, Elaine Lawler of Lowell, Linda Ouellette and her husband, Andre of Dracut, Diane Perry of Lowell, and Maureen Perry of Arizonia; many half brothers and sisters-in-law; very close nephews, Gregory Wright, Dino Chachus and his wife, Michele, and James Chachus and his wife, Julie; cousins, Stella McAuliffe and Georgia Papavasiliou; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was the brother of the late Helen (Dolly) Wright, and brother-in-law of the late Anastasios Chachus, Daniel Perry, Robert Perry and Edwin Lawler.
