Devoted husband, father, and grandfather
LOWELL -- Mr. Peter J. Gletzakos, 92, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Katina (Glentakou) Gletzakos who survives him and with whom he shared over 51 years of marriage.
Peter was born in Laconia, Greece on March 15, 1921, and was a son of the late John and Anastasia (Panagoulakou) Gletzakos. He was raised in Greece, and served in the Greek Army during WWII and during the Greek Civil War before moving to the United States.
Peter had worked for many years at Wang Laboratories in Lowell before his retirement.
He was a member of The Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church in Lowell, the Pan Laconian Leonidas and Sparta Chapter, as well as the AHEPA Hellas Chapter 102 in Lowell.
Peter's life was his family, and he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his much loved extended family and dear friends.
In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by two loving daughters, Stacy Daigle and her husband, Albert Jr., of Dracut, and Irene Martin and her husband, John of Lowell; his grandson and pride and joy, Jonathan Martin; two nieces, Voula and Natasa, and his nephews, John, Dimitrios and John.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Marie, Demitrios, Eugenia, Stamatoula, Pierros, Gregory and George, and his nephew, Dimitrios.
GLETZAKOS -- Peter. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His funeral will take place from the Funeral Home on Monday at 9:45 am followed by his funeral service to be held 11 o'clock at the Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church 62 Lewis St., Lowell. Interment to follow in Westlawn II Cemetery.
