CHELMSFORD -- Phyllis A. (Wenger) Carr, 88, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died suddenly on November 19, 2012 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of George L. Carr to whom she had been married for 60 years.
She was born on November 10, 1924 in Campbelltown, PA and was a daughter of the late Irwin and Allegra (Nye) Wenger.
Phyllis received her education in Hershey, PA and was a graduate of Hershey High School and the Reading School of Nursing in Reading, PA.
She was a longtime, active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Chelmsford.
In her free time Phyllis enjoyed sewing, going to bible study, learning about history, spending time on Cape Cod, and above all else spending time in the company of her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She volunteered her time at the UMASS Lowell Campus Ministries.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by her son, Larry Carr and his wife Cris of Stony Brook, Long Island, NY; two daughters, Cindy Hayes and her husband Gerald of Lowell, and Melinda Boucher and her husband Francis of Hudson, NH, 7 grandchildren; Amanda Correia and her husband Andrew of Lowell, Melissa Hayes of Chelmsford, Christopher Hayes and his wife Stephanie Cortez of Manchester, CT, Katherine Carr of Reynoldsburg, OH, Sara Carr and her husband Eric Offermann of Silver Springs, MD, and Seth Boucher and Alec Boucher of Hudson, NH; 2 great-grandchildren, Prudence and Beck Correia; her brother Wilmer Wenger of Lebanon, PA; her sister Nancy Schell and her husband Charles of Hershey, PA. and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was also the grandmother of the late Ethan Boucher.
CARR -- PHYLLIS A. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Service will be on Saturday at 9 o'clock at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 242 Boston Rd., Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
