Richard "Dick" H. O'Loughlin Jr.

Of Chelmsford

CHELMSFORD, MA -- Richard "Dick" O'Loughlin Jr., 83, of Chelmsford, MA died Thursday January 24, 2013 at his home after a long illness.

He was married to Carolyn (Dexter) O'Loughlin with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 2, 2013.

He was a son of the late Richard H. Sr. and Mary O'Loughlin. He graduated from New Salem Academy with the Class of 1947.

A Veteran of the Korean War, Dick served in the US Navy.

Dick worked as a Civil Engineer for the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority for over 38 years before retiring in 1992.

He was a Past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 437 of Westford and member of the Tyngsboro Sportsman's Club. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and was an avid Patriots fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and their wives, Rick O'Loughlin and Deborah Rock of Amherst, NH, David and Elizabeth O'Loughlin of Alton Bay, NH; a loving daughter and her husband, Debra and Gerald Fortier of Nottingham, NH; three brothers and their wives, Robert and Ruth O'Loughlin of New Salem, MA, James and Lenny O'Loughlin of Orange, MA, John and Sandra O'Loughlin of Seminole, FL ; seven grandchildren, Heather Abernathy, Kirsten Just, Kelly, Riley and Emma O'Loughlin, Renee Lucia, and Mark Fortier; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph O'Loughlin of Orange, MA who died May 4, 2007.
