Loving mother and grandmother

CHELMSFORD -- Rita O. (O'Neil) Barry, 92, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2013, at the Palm Center of Chelmsford. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Barry who died in 1996.

Rita was born at home in Chelmsford, MA on April 26, 1921, a daughter of the late John and Ann (Waters) O'Neil. She was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School, Lowell High School, and the Boston Secretarial School.

Rita began her career at the Remington Electronics Company as an executive secretary. She later moved to the Raytheon Company, working in Waltham and in Burlington for over 25 years.

She was a former communicant of the Sacred Heart Church, and later at St. Mary's Church in Chelmsford. Rita loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed leisure time around her pool, and spending the holidays at home with her family. Rita would also travel to New Canaan, CT to visit with her daughter Karen and her family. She was an avid Red Sox Fan.

Devoted wife of the late Joseph P. Barry, loving mother of Kevin P. Barry, Scott Korenda, Karen Barry Schwarz and Timothy Schwarz. Cherished grandmother ("GaGa") of Abigail Schwarz (21) and Audrey Schwarz (17). Beloved aunt of several nieces and nephews, and friend to so many.

BARRY -- In Chelmsford, December 3, 2013, Rita O. (O'Neil) Barry, 92, a longtime Chelmsford resident. Family and friends are invited to attend Rita's FUNERAL MASS on SATURDAY MORNING at 9 o'clock at ST. MARY'S CHURCH, 25 North Road, Chelmsford, MA. It being her wish, there will be no calling hours. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
