Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather

LOWELL, MA -- Robert B. "Bob" Mealey, the beloved husband of Maureen E. (Foley) Mealey and a resident of Belvidere, passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2012 at Lowell General Hospital. He was 79 years old.

Robert was born in Lowell on June 7, 1933, a son of the late Edward and Mary (Casey) Mealey. He was a graduate of St. Peter's Grammar School and Lowell High School. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.

An Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, Bob served from 1953-1957 and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Returning home following his military service, Mr. Mealey was employed at the Courier Citizen Company. He later retired in 1995 from the Greater Lowell Regional Vocational High School where he worked as a custodian.

Bob likes all sports but especially loved Notre Dame Football. In his younger years Bob was a baseball player on the South Common. He was also a longtime member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 87 Lowell Elks.

Surviving Mr. Mealey are his wife Maureen, his daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Brian Forsythe, and one grandchild, Kyle Forsythe all of Lowell; two sisters, Louise Mealey of Lowell and Alice Ricard of Salem, MA. Bob is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mealey was the brother of the late Mary Mealey and Edward Mealey and the nephew of the late Rev. Elias Mealey.

MEALEY -- In Lowell, November 17, 2012 unexpectedly at Lowell General Hospital, Robert B. Mealey, 79, the beloved husband of Maureen E. (Foley) Mealey.

At Mr. Mealey's request private family Funeral Services were held and his burial took place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tewksbury. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the .
