Robert "Rob" Winston Granger, 66

YARMOUTHPORT -- Robert Winston Granger, 66, of Yarmouthport, died peacefully, yet unexpectedly, in his sleep on Sunday morning, April 21, 2013.

Born June 24, 1946 in Minneapolis MN, Rob was the son of the late Winston and Carol (Hopps) Granger of Edina, MN where Rob spent his childhood through college.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota, and worked as a Human Resources Manager specializing in Compensation and Benefits for Schneider Automation in North Andover, MA for most of his professional career until he retired in 1999.

After retirement, he moved to Cape Cod, where he has been a member of the South Yarmouth Tennis Club, as well as Bass River and Bayberry Hills Golf Courses where he was active in the 60's league.

Rob is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patti; sons Andy and his wife Cheryl of Phoenix, AZ ; Scott and his wife Michele of Ayer, MA; Grandchildren Nathan (11), Nicholas (11), Breanna (9) and Emily (9); sisters Trish Grose (Chuck); Bonnie Shanzenbach(Doug): Sisters-in-law, Barbara Nitz(Gunter); Mary Huebner(Ralph); brother-in-law Jeff Piper(Sue) all of MN as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his loving dog, Missy.

Rob was an avid tennis player since he was young, an avid supporter of the University of Minnesota in any sport, was always trying to improve his golf game, but most of all, loved watching his own children and grandchildren playing sports and other activities.

GRANGER -- A memorial service will be held at 3:30pm, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable Village. Following the service, a celebration of Rob's life will be held at Chapin's Restaurant in Dennis, one of his favorite places to hang out on the Cape.
