Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather,
LOWELL -- Mr. Thomas J. Shea, Jr., age 76, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died on Monday January 21, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital following a long illness. For 40 years, he was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. (Cayon) Shea.
He was born in Lowell on July 17, 1936, son of the late Thomas J. Shea, Sr. & Mabel (Clark) Shea. He attended the Butler School, then graduated from Lowell High School, class of 1953. He served in the Army National Guard, Private 1st Class.
Prior to his retirement, he was a machinist with Corrugated Cardboard and Interstate Container for over 20 years.
He was a parishioner of St. Rita's Church in Pawtucketville. Previously, he was a parishioner of the former St. Peter's Church. He enjoyed collecting comic books and baseball cards.
Besides his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas Shea III, and Michael Shea, both of Lowell, Dennis & Linda Shea of FL, David & Brandy Shea of NH; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn & Dale Spaulding of VT, Jennifer & Michael Flagler of Templeton, MA; his step-children, Paul Desrosiers of Westford, and Diane & Harry Davis of NH; his siblings and their spouses, Charles & Marilee Shea of CA & NH, Madeline & Danny Gill of Tewksbury, Mildred & Nick Garnett of NH, and Alice Kelly of VT; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was brother of the late Theresa Shea, Marion Blazonis, Doris Shaeffer, Katherine Hand and Frances Lashinsky; and also step-father of the late John and David Desrosiers.
SHEA -- Thomas, Jr.; 76, of Lowell. Relatives & friends are invited to his visitation at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Wednesday Jan. 23 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.
