Longtime resident of Lowell, WWll Vet; 93
LOWELL -- Vaios Zarakotas, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Lowell General Hospital, after brief illness.
For 62 years, he was the beloved husband of Freida (Keriakakos) Zarakotis.
He was born in Manchester, NH on March 26, 1919, a son of the late Vasilios and Ephrosene (Papademitriou) Zarakotas.
Vaios was a longtime resident of Lowell, and a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
He was a US Army Veteran of WWII.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Honeywell in Lowell for many years.
Besides his wife, Freida, he is survived by his daughter, Angela Zarakotas of Lowell; a brother, Gregory Zarakotas of Manchester, NH; also several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Stephen, Spiros, Stravula and Madeline Zarakotas.
ZARAKOTAS -- There will be no visitation. His Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday morning, Dec. 26 at 10 o'clock at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St, Lowell. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell, MA 01854. Arrangements are in the care of the M. R.
