Walter J. Theriault, Jr.
Retired Local #49 carpenter

TEWKSBURY -- Walter J. Theriault, Jr., age 86, a resident of Tewksbury for 79 years, passed away at the Blaire House of Tewksbury, with his family by his side on Wednesday evening, January 29, 2014.

He was the beloved husband of Doris Y. (Thibeault) Theriault, with whom he celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on May 30, 2013.

Born in Lowell on November 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Irene (Hamilton) Theriault. Walter was raised in Lowell and attended Lowell schools.

Prior to his retirement in 1988, he worked for 24 years as a Carpenter for Local #49. In his early years, Walter worked for the former Heidenrich Farm in West Tewksbury.

He was a life member of the Knickerbocker Club of Lowell, and a member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks. In addition, he was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Marie's Church, where he also had served as an Altar Boy and later as an Usher.

Walter enjoyed pitching horseshoes, bowling, ice fishing, spending time cleaning his pool and woodworking in his work shop.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Ronny Theriault and his wife, Lorraine of Tewksbury, Diane Theriault of Townsend, Gloria Zimmer and her husband, Ralph of Tewksbury, Bobby Theriault and his wife, Gail of Lowell, Mickey Theriault and his wife, Dolly of Nashua, NH, Jerry Theriault and his wife, Arlene of Lowell, and Shirley Schweizer and her husband, Rick of Danville, NH; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Walter was the brother of the late Rita Murdock and Rose Myron.

THERIAULT -- Walter J. Jr. Calling hours Sunday, Feb. 2, from 1-5 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services Monday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
