Devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather
LOWELL -- Walter J. Wilk, 90, a longtime resident of Lowell, died peacefully, Saturday, April 13th at Lowell General Hospital/ Saints Campus, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Nora L. (Sanocki) Wilk who died in 2012.
Walter was born on November 15, 1922 in Westford, MA, son of the late Stanley and Joanna (Letkiewicz) Wilk of Poland. He received his education at Westford Academy, class of 1941. For over 25 years, Walter worked for Honeywell in Lawrence until his retirement.
He was a communicant of the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell, where he dedicated much time and energy as an altar server and an usher for over 50 years. He was a past president of Holy Trinity Seniors and a worker at Holy Trinity Bingo. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society and volunteer at the Lowell Folk Festival for several years at the Polish Booth.
Recently he was named Resident of the Month at D'Youville Senior Care and a 2013 Resident Advisory Board Member. He was also an avid harmonica player and Red Sox fan.
Walter will be greatly missed and remembered by all.

Walter is survived and will be deeply missed by his two children, Edward J. Wilk and his wife Ann (Rousseau) of Seabrook, NH and Joanne M. (Wilk) and her husband Edward S. Cuipa Jr. of Lowell; and four grandchildren, Katelyn M. (Cuipa) and her husband Michael D. Bergeron of Somersworth, NH, Jonathan E. Wilk and his wife Kerri of Lowell, Kendrick E. Wilk and his wife Bethany of California, and Edward S. Cuipa III of Boston, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Walter was also a brother of the late Julia (Wilk) Targ, Josephine (Wilk) Dabransky, Stella (Wilk) Werdermann, Blanche (Wilk) Crocker, and Thaddeus Wilk.
WILK -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, on Thursday, April 18th from 3 until 7 PM. His Funeral will be held on Friday, April 19th from the Funeral Home at 9 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 AM in The Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity, Lowell. Interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell. Those who wish to make donations may do so to Holy Trinity Church, 340 High Street, Lowell, MA 01852 in Walter's name.
