Wayne D. Richardson
of Chelmsford, Navy Vet; 76

CHELMSFORD -- Wayne D. Richardson, 76, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died on March 12, 2014, at Westford House after an extended illness.

He was born on September 25, 1937 in Medford, a son of the late George H. and Andrea (Madison) Richardson. He was a graduate of Medford High School.

Wayne proudly served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1962.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as an Investigator for the MBTA for over 25 years.

Wayne was a member of the Billerica ELKS and had been very involved with the Chelmsford Trailer Park.

He was a passionate Boston sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Skimpy.

Wayne's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Westford House.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra J. Munnis and her husband, Jack of Ashburnham; his son, Steven M. Richardson of Dracut; two grandchildren, Joshua E. Munnis and Shaylyn L. Munnis. He also leaves a sister, Evelyn Flaherty and her husband, Charles of Melrose; four brothers, Russell Richardson of Woburn, Douglas Richardson of Sunapee, NH, William Richardson and his wife, Ruth of Medford, and Stuart Richardson and his wife, Mary of Methuen; a brother-in-law, Donald McCormack of Medford; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Andrea "Dot" Ferris and Ethel McCormick.

RICHARDSON -- WAYNE D. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 12 to 3 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. A Graveside Service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held on Monday at 10 am at Pine Ridge Cemetery, 130 Billerica Rd., Chelmsford. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Wayne's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
