Vietnam War Veteran; 60
William J. Lysz, Sr., age 60, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 9, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on September 21, 1952 in Lowell, MA, son of the late Vincent J. and Vera C. Lysz. William grew up in Lowell and attended Lowell Trade School.
As a Lance Corporal for the United States Marine Corps, William served his country in the Vietnam War from 1971-1975 as an Aviation Maintenance Administrator. During that time, he served on the U.S.S. Okinawa and the U.S.S New Orleans from 1973-1974.
After his time in the military, William worked at Courier Citizen in Lowell, MA with his sisters and extended family. When the company closed, he worked in roofing and painting.
William enjoyed fishing and watching the History Channel. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Gia as well as his dog, Woogie.
William's family includes: his wife, Patricia Everett Lysz; their daughter, Chelsea Everett and their granddaughter, Gia Sconza, all of Manchester, NH; his first wife, Monica Fontaine of Lebanon, ME and their children, William J. Lysz Jr. and Robert T. Lysz of Lowell, MA; their daughter Lucretia Brayen of Dover, NH; as well as their grandchildren, Leocritia Wolf, Ainsley and Teigan Brayen, and Thomas R. Lysz. William was also the brother of Pauline Lysz, Linda Lysz and Kelli Lysz, all of Dracut, MA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
LYSZ -- Services will be held on Friday February 15, 2013 at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery located at 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Route 3, Boscawen, NH 03303 at 2 pm.
