YARMOUTH PORT, MA -- Mr. William "Bill" Floyd, Jr., 82, of Yarmouth Port, MA, and New Smyrna Beach, FL formerly of N. Chelmsford, MA died Wednesday, November 19, 2012, at Kindred Transitional Care Center at Eagle Pond in South Dennis, MA.
He was married to Mrs. Ann "Pat" (Gibson) Floyd, R.N. with whom he would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on November 28th.
The son of the late William J. and Rita (Maguire) Floyd. He was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1948. He earned his B.A. and Master's Degree in Business from Suffolk University.
He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He retired from Verizon after 32 dedicated years.
He was a past active communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of N. Chelmsford, MA; where he was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Finance Council and past Business Manager. He is currently a communicant at St. Pius X of S. Yarmouth, MA and Our Lady of the Sea of New Smyrna Beach, FL.
He was a founding member of Bishop Rocco and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He was a past member of the Chelmsford Elk and Lion's Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, William J. Floyd, III of Nashua, NH; his grandson, Ryan Floyd of Plaistow, NH; his sister, Carol Bishop of Sun City, FL; his brother-in-law and his wife, Arthur P. and Florence Gibson of Rotonda West, FL; his sister-in-law, Janet M. Considine of Dracut, MA, and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late James R. Floyd of Naples, FL who died August 13, 2007, and Virginia I. Floyd of Naples, FL who died May 14, 1991.
