CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- Stephen T. Barry, 63, of Chestnut Hill, MA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 13th.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Cushing; his siblings, Mrs. John (Suzanne) Leary of Hamden, CT, Judith Conners, of Lowell, MA, Atty. Brian Barry of Lowell, MA, and Kevin Barry of Andover, MA; 15 nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews. He was the son of Stephen A. and Margaret (Killeen) Barry.
The late Francesca Tillona, his wife of 20 years, predeceased him in 1997.
Steve was born and raised in Lowell, MA where he was a graduate of Keith Academy. He received his BA, MA, and PHD from Boston College.
As a professor, Steve taught at Boston State College, Boston College, and Boston University. He also spent 20 years in the private sector at Honeywell/Bull and On Technology.
BARRY -- At his request, burial will be private. Remembrance celebrations will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Noon at Long Meadow Golf Club, Lowell, MA and at Boston College on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Boston, MA 02445, Green Decade, P.O. Box 590242, Newton, MA 02459 or to National Public Radio at WBUR, 890 Commonwealth Ave., 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02215 (checks payable to WBUR).
