Geraldine F. (Cote) (Premo) Tobin
of Chelmsford, MA; 72

CHELMSFORD, MA -- With her family gathered by her side Geraldine F. (Cote) (Premo) Tobin died peacefully, Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Lowell General Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 72.

On January 22, 1942 in Worcester, MA, Hervey and Emily (Brisebois) Cote welcomed Geraldine into the world. Raised in Worcester, she graduated from Holy Name High School, class of 1960. She moved to Chelmsford in August of 1965 and made it her home. Life's changes brought new people into her world and on September 12, 1982 she married Alexander J. 'Al' Tobin.

She loved her work and was an example of hard work, dedication and determination to excel and reach new positions in the workforce. For the last 10 years Gerri was a pension specialist at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was respected amongst her peers on all levels at work. She had also worked for many years in human resources for Tufts Health Plan.

Gerri had a passion for gardening and landscape. Her yard was her oasis and she spent countless hours in her gardens and would enjoy and share the rewards of her labor throughout the seasons. She and Al enjoyed time at their cottage in Hampton, boat ride or a fishing excursion on their boat and a long walk on the boardwalk and beach. Gerri was one of the founding members of the Chelmsford Art Society and loved the simple pleasure of a cup of afternoon tea while watching her birds.

In death Gerri joins her parents and her brother-in-law, Ronald G. Cross who died Nov. 15, 2013.

Gerri always knew that having someone to love is family, having somewhere to go is home and having both is a blessing. In addition to her husband, Al, she leaves her children, Paul E. Premo and his wife, Elvira of Townsend, Joann M. Premo of Salem, New Hampshire and Sharon E. Cox and her husband, Alan of Torrance, California; her grandchildren, Camille and Bianca Premo and Jordan and Teagan Cox; her sisters, Denise M. Cross of Worcester and Shirley A. Farrell and her husband, Charles of North Grafton; and many nieces and nephews.

TOBIN -- Family and friends will honor and remember Gerri's life by gathering for calling hours at Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford on Thursday, February 6th from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday morning in First Parish Unitarian Universalist, 2 Westford Street where her Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Ellen Spero will officiate. Burial is private.

A very special thank you goes to all the medical staff at Lowell General for the tender care given to Gerri and her family.

Memorials in Gerri's name may be made to The Healing Garden, 145 Bolton Road, Harvard, MA 01451.
