CHELMSFORD, MA -- Mrs. Gertrude E. Mack, 90, a resident of Chelmsford, MA for 60 years, died Friday, February 7, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness.
For almost 50 years, she was married to the late Mr. William A. Mack who died in January of 1998.
Born in Lowell, on June 29, 1923, Gertrude was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Haggerty. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1941 and attended Lowell Commercial College.
At Lowell High, she was a Captain in the Girls Officers Regiment, and also served on the committees for the 25th, 40th, 50th, and 60th class reunions.
She retired from Fred C. Church, former Union National Bank and First Bank of Chelmsford. She was a volunteer at Lowell General Hospital and the Chelmsford Public Library.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of N. Chelmsford, MA.
She was a member of the Chelmsford Senior Center, League of Catholic Women, and the Friends of Chelmsford Library
She is survived by three daughters, Marybeth and her husband Richard Lemire, Judith M. Root, Martha and her husband Ernest Ouellette; three grandchildren, Morgan and Nolan Root and Alison Haddix; sister-in-law Muriel Haggerty; and several nieces and nephews.
