Sophia 'Sue' Gramas
Lifelong resident of Lowell

LOWELL -- Sophia "Sue" Gramas, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 20th, at her home.

She was born in Lowell, MA on November 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Spiro and Ralio (Katramados) Gramas. A lifelong resident, she attended Lowell schools, graduating from Lowell High School in 1947.

She then attended Lowell Commercial College and upon her graduation she worked for many years for the City of Lowell Police Department as the private secretary to the Chiefs of Police retiring in 1991.

Sophia was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell and also a member of the churches Ladies Philoptochos Society. Other memberships included the former Lowell Garden Club, the Hellenic Cultural Society, the Pan - Laconian Society and the Whistler Art Club.

During her retirement she travelled to Chile, Greece, and many States in America.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce Chingros and her husband, Chris of Lowell; seven nephews, William Sperounis and his wife, Dorothy of Pelham, NH, and Fort Myers, FL, Christopher Chingros of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Arthur S. Chingros of Lowell, and Philip, Eduardo, William, and Gustavo Sumar, all of Santiago, Chile.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Celia Sperounis, Emelia Patsourakos, and Mary Sumar; two brothers-in-law, William Sperounis and James Patsourakos, and two nephews, Kirk Sperounis and Dr. William Chingros.

GRAMAS -- Relatives and friends will be received at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Lewis St., Lowell on Monday morning, February 24th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Holy Trinity Church , Lewis St., Lowell, MA 01854. Funeral arrangements under the direction M.R.
