John G. 'Jerry' Shea, Jr.
Formerly of Chelmsford; 68

MERRIMAC -- John G. "Jerry" Shea, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, after a brief illness. For 14 years, he was the beloved companion of Diane DaPonta.

He was born in Boston on August 13, 1945, the son of the late John G. and Corinne E. (Kline) Shea. Jerry was a resident of Merrimac, MA for the past 11 years, and was formerly a longtime resident of Chelmsford.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a sheet metal worker with Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 for 35 years.

Jerry loved boating and was a 20 year member of Mackenzie's Landing Marina in Amesbury, MA. He was also a classic car enthusiast and the owner of a 1966 Corvette. He also enjoyed karaoke and model trains. He loved nothing more than family gatherings, socializing with family and friends, and making people laugh with all of his jokes.

Jerry is survived by his children, David Shea and his wife, Brigit of Chelmsford, Laurie LeMay and Brian Shea, both of Candia, NH; his four grandchildren, Leah and Brian LeMay, both of Candia, NH, Brennan Shea of Lowell, and Katy Shea of Chelmsford; his companion Diane's children, Mindy Segal and her wife, Amy of Randolph, and Michelle DiGregorio of Amesbury; also many dear friends.

SHEA -- Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Saturday, March 1st, from 2 until 6 pm. Interment will be private and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to the , 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
