DRACUT -- Rachel A. (Daigle) Descoteaux, 83, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 11th, at the Wilmington Healthcare Center with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Albert Descoteaux with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.
Rachel was born in Dracut on April 25, 1930, a daughter of the late Marie R. (Chalifoux) and Albert G. Daigle. She was educated in Dracut and a graduate of Dracut High School class of 1948.
For many years, she worked as a bank teller and loan officer at City Institute for Savings, Central Savings Bank and lastly Lowell Five.
Rachel was a dedicated, caring and loving mother. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years and enjoyed traveling. She was always the life of the party and enjoyed dancing, and hosting people at her home.
Along with her husband, Albert, Rachel is survived and will be deeply missed by her sons, Royal O. Descoteaux and his wife, Pamela of Pelham, NH, Alan J. Descoteaux and his wife, Kathleen of Tewksbury, and Gregory A. Descoteaux and his wife, Erin of Londonderry, NH; six grandchildren, Kimberly, Scott, Melissa, Bryan, Michael and Ian; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Daigle of Dracut and Royal Daigle of Lowell; three sisters, Priscilla Daigle and her husband, Roger of Dracut, Joanne Gilbert of Dracut, and Isabelle Poirier and her husband, Roland of Lowell.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela M. Descoteaux who passed away in 2008, and her sister, Pauline M. Levesque who passed away in 2013.
DESCOTEAUX -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday March 14, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. Her funeral will then take place from the funeral home at 8 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass at 9 a.m in Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish/St. Theresa Church in Dracut. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rachel's name to Boys Town, P.O. Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010.
