Bertha (Winer) Solomon Obituary
Bertha (Winer) Solomon
Loving mother

LOWELL -- Bertha (Winer) Solomon, a longtime resident of the Highlands, entered into rest on April 12, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital, after a period of declining health, aged 89 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo Solomon.

Born in Boston, May 7, 1924, a daughter of the late Myer and Hannah (Sweet) Solomon. She received her early education in the Boston School System and was a graduate of Boston Latin High School. After graduation, Bertha began her musical career by performing in and around Boston as a solo act.

Bertha and Leo met at Salisbury Beach. They later married and settled in Lowell to raise their family.

After her children were grown, Bertha, who was already an accomplished piano and accordobox player, joined the Tic Toc's group, and performed at many Lowell venues during the 70s and 80s.

In her free time, she enjoyed the local arts in Lowell, especially plays and shows. She liked to take trips to Revere Beach to visit relatives and also Salisbury Beach. Bertha also enjoyed going to Foxwoods, finding great bargains at yard sales, and shopping at Haymarket Square in Boston.

Bertha was a true animal lover, and especially loved her cats, Tootsie, Missy and Milo.

She is survived by a son, Mitchell C. Solomon, and a daughter, Amy R. Solomon, both of Lowell; a brother-in-law, Sidney Solomon and his wife, Shirley of Pittsfield; and many nieces and nephews.
