Owner of George's Café in Dracut

PELHAM -- Charles L. "Charlie" Mahaleris, 75, of Pelham, formerly of Dracut, died unexpectedly Friday evening, April 11th, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

He was the beloved husband of Blanche A. (Gauthier) Mahaleris with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on August 18, 2013.

Born in Peabody, Massachusetts, June 16, 1938, the son of the late Louis L. and the late Penelope (Papafagos) Mahaleris, he received his education in the Dracut school system.

Before retiring, Charlie was employed as a Supervisor in the Print Shop at Raytheon Corporation in Bedford for over 38 years. He was also owner and operator of George's Café in Dracut.

Among his many interests, Charlie was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling with his wife and loved spending quality time with his family. As anyone who knew him would tell you, Charlie was one of the most colorful conversationalists you could ever meet.

In addition to his wife, Blanche, Charlie is survived by two daughters, Diane Bennett and her companion, Rick Spinney of Lowell, MA, and Penny Dowd and her companion, Joe Schiripo of Dracut, MA; two sons, Michael J. Mahaleris and his wife, Darlene of Kissimmee, FL, and Charles L. Mahaleris, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Augusta, ME; eight grandchildren, Christopher Cambray and his wife, Rebecca, Robert Shepard, Nicholas, Zachary, Andrew, Theodore and Nina Mahaleris, and Emily Dowd; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Isabella Cambray; a sister, Sophie Leimonitis and her husband, Tony of Lowell, MA; a brother, George Mahaleris of Dracut, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

MAHALERIS -- In Methuen, April 11, 2014, at Holy Family Hospital, Charles L. "Charlie" Mahaleris, 75, of Pelham, formerly of Dracut, husband of Blanche A. (Gauthier) Mahaleris. Friends may call at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM from 3 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday. His Funeral Service will take place Wednesday morning from the Pelham Funeral Home at 9 o'clock followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 10 o'clock. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell.
