DRACUT -- Kaliope (Mavroidis) Sioras, 86, passed away Wednesday, April 16th, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Athanasios Sioras who died in 2006.
Kaliope was born in Dirahi Arcadia, Greece on November 2, 1927, a daughter of the late Fontini (Baras) and Poulos Mavroidis.
She worked as a farmer in Greece, picking olives and other types of vegetables, for many years until her retirement. In 1994, she immigrated to Lowell to be closer to her family.
She was a member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Dracut.
Kaliope is survived by her son, Konstantinos Sioras of Dracut; her daughter, Eleni and her husband, Christos Bletsis of Lowell; four grandchildren, Vasilios Bletsis and his wife, Georgia, Kaliope Silva and her husband, Chris, Athanasios Sioras and Athanasios Bletsis; three great-grandchildren, Eleni, Christos and Elena; as well as three brothers in Greece.
SIORAS -- Friends are invited to pay thier respects at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on MONDAY, April 21st from 5-8 p.m. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with a service at 10:30 a.m. in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, DRACUT. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1160 Mammoth Road, Dracut, MA 01826.
