He was the husband of the late Vasiliki "Bessie" (Giatas) Kirkiles who passed away of cancer in 1996. He will be remembered as a very kind and encouraging father and as a loyal servant to his company, his church and his community.

John was born in Lowell, MA on November 12, 1915, a son of Greek immigrants, Stavroula (Argianas) and Demetrius Kirkiles. He attended the Edward Everett School in Dorchester, MA and graduated from Lowell High School. In the 1930's, he spent a few years working for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Lewiston, Maine.

In 1945, he married his wife, Bessie, and they moved to Albany, NY where he attended Sienna College and worked for the General Electric Company. After many years they moved to Lynn and then settled in Dracut where they lived for 40 years.

John was a faithful 38-year employee of the General Electric Company. He spent 34 of those years in management positions. At his retirement, he held the position of Government Property Administration of the Aircraft Engine Group. In this position, he was responsible for negotiating with government personnel at the Wright Patterson AFB for government funding of the manufacture of equipment to enhance the latest stat-of-the-are applications.

He was very devoted to his church, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, and served on the Board of Directors. He was committed to community service, and served on various committees which helps with the redesign of Lowell's downtown district. He was a member of the Dracut Finance Committee for eight years (1972-1979), including two years as a chairman. He was also the Administrative Assistant to the Dracut Board of Selectman for 2 1/2 years (1980-1982).

After retiring from G.E. and during the years 1988-1995, he was employed by the Community Teamwork Inc. in Lowell, MA in the capacity of Computer Reviewer in the Fuel Assistance Administration Program.

John spent two years taking care of his beloved wife Bessie, until her death. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his three children, Maria Rosa and her husband, David of Acton, MA, Theodore Kirkiles of Santa Cruz, CA, James Kirkiles and his wife, Jeanie of North Andover, MA; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
