CHELMSFORD, MA -- Patricia I. (Barnes) McAnistan, 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 29th, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was born April 15, 1931 in Lowell, MA to the late Raymond and Gertrude (McCluskey) Barnes. Predeceased by husband, Stanley "Shorty" McAnistan of whom she was married to for 56 years.
Affectionately known to all as Nana, she was a selfless and kind woman whose passing will impact everyone's life she touched. For the greater part of her life, she lived in Tyngsboro, and was educated in Lowell.
Patricia was a constant in her families' lives. She was a very positive person and brought great joy to all. Patricia's greatest pleasures were being with her family every day, playing cards and on occasion, a trip to the "Fox" Foxwoods Casino with her sister, Janet. As her health was declining, Patricia found comfort being cared for at the home of her daughter Cheryl where she always wanted to be and all were welcomed to visit "Nana". Her everlasting words, "I Love You More".
She is survived by children William McAnistan and (Mary) of Tyngsboro, MA, Joseph McAnistan and (Kathleen) of Hudson, NH, Patricia Hebert and (Robert) of Wesley Chapel, FL, John McAnistan and (Catherine) of Salem, NH, Gail Byrne and (Anthony) of Derry, NH, and Cheryl McAnistan of Chelmsford MA; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren (soon to be 17) and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, John Barnes and (Debbie), Charles Barnes and (Ann) and three sisters, Virginia Ramsey, Janet Shanahan, and Marylou Hunt; a sister-in-law, Viola Barnes; many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Donna Dowery, Joan Woods, and Raymond Barnes.
