James A. Mahon

TOWNSEND -- James A. Mahon, 67, of Highland Street, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Mahon was born in Decatur, Illinois, December 9, 1946, the son of John and Mary E. (Douglass) Mahon and has resided in Townsend for over thirty years.
He was a 1965 graduate of Ayer High School and then continued his education at The University of Lowell where he received a Bachelors Degree in Business.
For over 30 years, Mr. Mahon worked as a manufacturer's sales representative for the Electrolux Corporation. Following his retirement he worked as a salesperson at Forest Appliance in Townsend.
During the Vietnam War, Mr. Mahon served his country for three years in the United States Navy.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Ayer Gun & Sportsman's Club and the Eastern Mass Beagle Club in Ashburnham. He had participated in the area's men's softball leagues and very much enjoyed working on antique Fords that he owned through the years. He was a frequent visitor to Cruise Nights throughout the area.
He leaves his wife of 33 years, Patricia A. (Jones) Mahon; two sons, Stephen J. Mahon of Townsend, Benjamin J. Mahon of Westborough; a sister, Nancy J. McMahon of Union Grove, Wisconsin.
MAHON -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School Street, Townsend. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon.
