GARDNER, MA -- Raymond S. Miller, age 89, died peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2014, at his residence in Gardner, MA. His beloved wife, Jennie, of 44 years, died in 2004, and his first wife, Louise, the Mother of his four children, died in 2003.

Mr. Miller was born in Freeport, Maine, on November 14, 1924, a son of the late Ellswood Miller and the late Margaret (Brown) Miller, and has lived in Gardner since 2005. He graduated from Chelmsford High School with the class of 1942.

Raymond served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded numerous medals.

In his earlier years, Ray enjoyed bowling and golf, and for 25 years he drove a Cushman Bakery truck before moving to Melbourne, FL. He was a lifelong avid Boston sports fan.

Raymond will be sadly missed and is survived by his four children, Richard Miller and his wife, Karlene of Barnstead, NH, Donald Miller of Hudson, NH, Lynne Duquette and her husband, Nick of Milford, NH, and Kathleen Waldron and her husband, Jack of Rindge, NH; four grandsons; Nicholas, Jeffrey, Christopher and David. Also by siblings, Forrest Miller of Chelmsford, MA, Shirley Doulames of St. Petersburg, FL, Lorraine Gregoire and husband, Greg of Chelmsford, MA, Arline Palmer of Chelmsford, MA, Larry Miller and his wife, Nancy of Eastham, MA; and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

His sisters, Sadie (Sally) Hansen & Lucille Vennard preceded him in death.

MILLER -- RAYMOND S. Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Tuesday from 10 until 11 am followed by his Funeral Service at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions may be made in Raymond's name to a or Heywood Wakefield Commons, 50 Pine Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Funeral Director, Paul A.
