Constance T. 'Connie' Carkin
Loving mother and grandmother; 81
LOWELL -- Constance T. "Connie" (Garrity) Carkin, 81, of Lowell, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Bruce Carkin who passed away in 1989 after 31 years of marriage.
Born August 6, 1932, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late James Garrity and the late Laura Garrity, attended the local schools in the area.
She resided in Lowell her entire life, more recently in Belvidere. Connie was employed as a switchboard operator for St. John's Hospital for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time at the beach, playing bingo, and traveling to Foxwoods.
Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and doing various activities together.
Connie is survived by her children, Joyce Cupan of Lowell, Bruce Carkin II of Maine, Deborah Carkin and her significant other, Tony Nogerola of Lowell, Charles Carkin and his wife, Donna of Lowell, and Ruth Sweeney of Lowell; her 10 grandchildren, Matt Cupan, Kara Avila, Andrew Carkin, Alex Nogerola, Christine Carkin, Melissa Carkin, Charlie Carkin, Amanda Love, Elizabeth Love, and Jonathan Knutz; and four great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Laverne Avila, and sister of the late James Garrity.
Connie's family would like to thank the staff at Palm Manor Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion during her stay.
