of Chelmsford

CHELMSFORD -- Mary Elaine (Defina) Holland, 76, of Chelmsford, MA, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.

She was married to the late Raymond V. Holland.

Born in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Mobila) Defina. She graduated from Waltham High School in 1955. Graduated Boston College with a BS in Business. Also, attended classes at Radcliff University and Columbia University.

She retired in 2004, from Greater Lowell Vocational High School in Tyngsboro, after 28 years of service. In her early years, she was an Executive Secretary on Wall Street in NY.

Mary was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford. Elaine was a doting mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed being a Member of Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club with her friends, and was an avid gardener.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Trahan and Jean Dearborn both of Chelmsford; six grandchildren, Joseph Murphy, Nicole Murphy, Thomas Trahan, Dean Trahan, Christian Trahan, and Alexie Dearborn; two great-grandchildren, Audrina and Desarae Murphy; two sisters, Josephine and her husband, Kenneth Fitzgerald of Billerica, and Sarina and her husband, Robert Papetti of Needham, MA; two nieces, Christine Dedek and Deana Moreschi; a nephew, Scott Zaffini; her companion, Alan Watson of Chelmsford; and her life-long friend, Barbara Cincotta-McCarthy of Waltham, MA.

She was the sister of the late Lorraine Defina of Chelmsford, and the late Geraldine Skillin of Auburndale, MA.

HOLLAND -- Mary Elaine (Defina) Holland, of Chelmsford, MA, died May 28, 2014. Visiting hours Fri. 4 to 8 P.M. Funeral Sat. at 10 A.M. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 11 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
