Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather
LOWELL -- Vincent P. McLaughlin, 81, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital following an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of Flora S. (Condo) McLaughlin, to whom he was married for 52 years.
Vincent was born in Lowell on July 14, 1932, a son of the late John J. and Lillian G. (O'Neil) McLaughlin. He was a graduate of the Lowell Public Schools, as well as Lowell Technical College and Boston University, where he majored in the Arts.
Prior to his retirement, Vincent was employed as the General Manager of Precision Electronics of Andover, MA for several years.
Vincent was a political activist and had been involved in many campaigns, both state and local. He was a former Republican State Committeeman for Middlesex County during the 1980's.
Vincent was a supporter of the Visual and Performing Arts. He was an avid reader. Mr. McLaughlin loved shopping for his family, and traveling, especially to European destinations such as London, Paris, and Rome. He also took great pleasure in talking with people. Vincent enjoyed a good cigar, fine wine, and gourmet food. He also enjoyed wearing hats. He will be remembered by his family for promenading through Central Park in NYC.
Mr. McLaughlin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Flora S. McLaughlin of Lowell; his two daughters, Leah McLaughlin and her husband Paul E. Hayes of Birmingham, AL, and Siobhan C. Hullinger and her husband Michael of Sudbury; three grandchildren, Caitlin C. Hullinger, Michael Timothy Hullinger, and Ethan Joseph Hullinger, all of Sudbury; two brothers, Richard F. McLaughlin and his wife June and Frederick A. McLaughlin and his wife Elizabeth, all of Lowell; his sister, Cheryl A. Soderquist and her husband Chester E. of Wilmington, also many nieces and nephews. Vincent was the brother of the late John J. McLaughlin, Jr., William C. McLaughlin, Donald E. McLaughlin, and David T. McLaughlin.
