Beloved Mother, Grandmother,

and Great-Grandmother

LOWELL -- Barbara A. (Holden) Knowles, 88, of Lowell, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at Heritage Nursing Care Center. She was the widow of the late Nelson R. Knowles who passed away in 1998.

She was born on April 20, 1926 in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Walter F. and the late Alice M. (Murningham) Holden. She was raised in Lowell where she attended the Moody School, graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1944 and from Lowell Commercial College.

For a majority of her life, she resided in Westford, before moving back to Lowell later on. She worked for Murray Printing for twelve years before her retirement.

Barbara is survived by her son, Randall R. Knowles and his wife, Karen of Westford; and her three daughters, Kathleen Ulich and her husband, Bobby of Bandera, TX, Martha A. Lowe and her husband, Jon of Lowell, and Ellen L. Horne and her husband Richard of Medford. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Nicole Gallo of Lowell, and Jonathan Lowe of Edgartown, as well as Lisa, Ria, Zachary, Rachael, Cassandra, Richardi, Richard and several great- grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Heritage Nursing Care Center for their kindness and compassion.

KNOWLES -- YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS FROM 10 UNTIL 11:30 A.M. ON THURSDAY AT THE MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH STREET, LOWELL 978-452-6361. HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN THE FUNERAL HOME AT 11:30 A.M. DIRECTLY FOLLOWING THE CALLING HOURS. A PROCESSION WILL FOLLOW FOR BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
