Louise F. Goodlavage
of Townsend; 87
TOWNSEND -- Louise Frances Goodlavage died peacefully at her home on the morning of Tuesday, June 17, 2014. She was 87.
She was the beloved wife for 37 years of the late Frank J. Goodlavage who died August 21, 1984.
Born a coal miner's daughter on June 22, 1926 in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania to the late John Mieluch ("Miller") and Anna Skeba, Louise later moved to Levittown, Pennsylvania where she would call home for nearly 50 years. She was an active member of the Auxiliary of the Levittown Fire Co #2 where her husband served as a firefighter. She was also employed by Lower Bucks Hospital in the Medical Records Department for 37 years and was a stellar example of work ethic, never missing a day or calling out sick. Despite her desire to reach the four-decade mark, health issues forced her into retirement.
Just shy of her 88th birthday, Louise marveled at all she had witnessed in her life--from weathering the Great Depression to the weather on a smart phone as explained by her great-granddaughters. She relished the moments and milestones her family bestowed upon her more than any of her own courage or accomplishments. She agreed to move north and endure the relentless New England winters to watch her family grow and what would come to be years of birthdays, holidays, school plays, band concerts, soccer games, horseshows, and gymnastics meets.
Louise led a simple quiet life sustained in no small part by the pride she felt for her family. She knew she would leave behind a legacy measured in quality, not quantity. She is survived by her only child Linda Ann Baxter of Townsend, MA and her only grandchild Kristine Beighley Holloran, and her husband Gary F. Holloran of Pepperell, MA. She was also the doting great-grandmother "Lala" to Tessa and Ella Holloran of Pepperell, MA. And, she is survived by her Maltese and faithful companion Storm.
She was also preceded in death by her younger brother John Mieluch, Jr. and younger sister Dorothy Taylor both of Levittown, Pennsylvania.
