Valerie Hoffman
Loving mother and grandmother

ACTON -- Valerie Hoffman, of Acton, formerly of Chelmsford, entered into rest peacefully on June 24, 2014, in Acton, aged 87 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Sidney Hoffman.

Born on March 22, 1927, in London, England, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Marjorie (Ager) Berg.

Like all mothers, she wanted to see her family grow strong and thrive. Her children, Carolyn Hoffman Higgins and Jeffrey Hoffman, and her four grandchildren, Marilee, Jared, Caren and Sam, survive her.

Born a natural beauty, she led an adventuresome life as a model and film star whose talented theatrical performances we will never forget. We are grateful for her courage, sense of humor, and determination to lead us through both the good times and the every day challenges.

Valerie rose in 1975 to be President of the National Council of Jewish Women. She was appointed National Tour Chairwoman for Unitours in 1977, leading trips to Israel - her favorite country in the world - where she found peace and her inner spirit.

We are thankful for the road she traveled. To Jack, Lester and Sidney - we salute you as fathers and the role models we all want to have in our lives. You provided love, safety, and above all else, helped define our mother as the peacekeeper, the optimist and the survivor of our family. To our friends and family who share in this loss, you may honor our mother by making a donation in her memory to the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, for Sam Hoffman, at
